THE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
Let the journey begin.
Europe, the world’s second-smallest continent, is situated entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
Europe is home to 44 countries, each offering a rich tapestry of cultures, histories, and landscapes, from the snow-capped peaks of the Alps to the sun-drenched beaches of the Mediterranean.
Romania experiences a continental climate with four distinct seasons, leading to hot summers with temperatures often reaching 30°C and cold winters where temperatures can drop below -10°C in some regions.
The annual temperature varies significantly across the country, with milder conditions along the coast and more extreme temperatures inland, particularly in the mountainous areas.
Romania uses the Romanian leu (RON) as its currency. The current leu was introduced in 2005, as part of a currency redenomination that replaced the old leu (ROL) at a rate of 10,000 old lei to 1 new leu. Before this redenomination, the old leu was used, which had been in circulation since 1867.
