Did you know… Millions of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra journey in a circular route across the Serengeti, resulting in the largest population and migration of large mammals on earth!
THE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
Let the journey begin.
Africa is the second largest and second most populous continent, covering approximately 20% of the Earth’s surface and situated primarily between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Made up of 54 recognised countries, Africa is renowned for its diverse cultures, rich history, and vast natural resources, including the Sahara Desert, the Nile River, and the Serengeti Plain.
The continent is cut almost equally in two by the Equator, meaning most of Africa lies within the tropical region, bounded on the north by the Tropic of Cancer and on the south by the Tropic of Capricorn.
Tanzania has a tropical climate that varies by region: coastal and lowland areas are typically warm and humid, while higher elevations are cooler. The country experiences a wet season from December to April and a dry season from May to October, which is the best time for viewing wildlife.
The currency used in Tanzania is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), which was introduced in 1966 to replace the East African Shilling. Managed by the Bank of Tanzania, the currency has been a stable unit for the nation’s economy, particularly for tourism and agriculture-based transactions.
