THE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
Let the journey begin.
Europe, the world’s second-smallest continent, is situated entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
Europe is home to 44 countries, each offering a rich tapestry of cultures, histories, and landscapes, from the snow-capped peaks of the Alps to the sun-drenched beaches of the Mediterranean.
Georgia experiences a diverse climate due to its varied topography, with coastal areas along the Black Sea having a humid subtropical climate, characterised by hot, humid summers and mild, wet winters. In contrast, the mountainous regions, such as the Caucasus Mountains, have a more continental climate, with cold, snowy winters and warm, dry summers. A number of high altitudes areas experience alpine conditions with snow persisting year-round.
The currency used in Georgia is the Georgian Lari (GEL), which was introduced in 1995, following the country’s independence from the Soviet Union. Before the Lari, Georgia used the Russian Ruble, and prior to that, the Soviet Ruble was the official currency during the Soviet era.
