Teacher FAQs

General

Student Expedition Extras (SEE) is a friendly team who have designed a comprehensive travel hub which supports schools, teachers, and parents with the logistics of international school and camp travel.

We focus on getting your trip off the ground, literally! Supporting with all pre-departure components, including group flight bookings, visa guidance and insurance, we're here whenever you need us. You'll also find details on trip providers, destination insights, kit lists, and summer/winter camp options for individual students.

SEE is designed primarily for schools, teachers and parents, however, our resources can benefit so many more. From support staff to trip providers, airlines to tourism boards and everyone in between!

As it stands our website is predominantly geared towards helping UAE residents, but if you're based anywhere else in the world and need support, feel free to reach out. Our contact us form is available to help all those that need guidance!

Yes. There's no hidden charges or fees to use our site or resources. Our goal is, and has always been, to make school trip planning simpler and more efficient, without adding costs or unnecessary headaches!

For any and all enquiries, our dedicated team is available via our 'contact us' page.

Head over and say hi, we're happy to help and always enjoy connecting with new people.

Planning a Trip

First, take a breath - we've got you!

Before diving into flights and itineraries, we recommend checking your school’s internal process for international travel. The process and approvals vary between schools (and even within the same school groups), so it’s the best place to start.

Once you know the process, head to our destination pages and trip provider listings to begin planning. Whether you need full trip support or just help with flights and visas, we're excited to get involved.

Step 1: Learn of your school process

Step 2: Seek all necessary approvals, both internally & externally

Step 3: Use the SEE website to research all trip components

Step 4: Finalise any further approvals once trip details have been confirmed

Step 5: Launch the trip to your students, highlighting all the fun stuff

Step 6: Hold a parent's evening to showcase the trip, with a greater focus on safety and logistics

Step 7: Collect deposit payments

Step 8: Collect balance payments

Step 9: Organise a pre-departure meeting, confirming all trip details

Step 10: You're set - get excited and go explore!

"Woah, we're halfway there...."

Loving this proactive approach! We'd love to source your flights, ensuring you arrive both on time and in-style!

In addition, please utilise our destination pages to learn of country specific information and visa guidelines.

Yes, most trip providers are happy to handle the in-country components only (accommodation, activities etc), leaving you free to organise flights separately. If you’d like SEE to arrange your group flights, this is often the best route. It allows us to work directly with your school and tailor the travel arrangements to suit your students and families, potentially helping to reduce overall costs.

We don’t charge trip providers to be listed, so if their details are missing, it's usually for one of three reasons:

1. They're new to the region!

2. We simply haven't spoken with them yet.

3. They've asked not to be included (uncommon but it happens - maybe they want to stay private, maybe they don't want to be too helpful... or maybe we'll win them over one day).

In short, no.

SEE providers impartial guidance and does not endorse or recommend any specific trip provider. Currently, we do not carry out due diligence on behalf of schools or offer our "seal of approval."

Our role is to simplify your search, not to advise on who to book with. Always ask questions and make decisions on what feels right and aligns best with your school and community based on your unique needs and priorities.

We're big on school travel, but only with the right support, safety and logistics!

Yes, absolutely! If you couldn’t, well, that wouldn’t be much of a helpful website, would it?

There are two options:

1. Complete our trip provider enquiry form, and we’ll forward your details and requirements onto the selected providers so they can get back to you as soon as!

2. Alternatively, you can contact each provider directly via their website (the link is on their SEE trip provider page). Just a heads-up, not all providers have a website contact form.

Yes, we sure can!

Whether you're planning one trip, five trips or a whole week without walls, we're here to support you every step of the way. There's no limit on the number of trips, departure months or timeframes.

Flights

Yes, absolutely! We work directly with our airline partners to secure group bookings with competitive rates and flexible conditions.

Yes, 100% - there’s no minimum or maximum group size.

Whether it’s a small group of students or a full school-wide expedition, we’ll tailor flight bookings to meet the needs of your school, students, and their families.

Where possible, yes.

We always present the most flexible options so you can make an informed decision. Things happen, plans can change, and it's better to know all the details upfront. Different airlines offer varying terms, and it’s our job to ensure you’re fully aware of what’s being agreed to.

This is airline dependent. Whilst some airlines require names weeks or months in advance, others allow submission much closer to departure. We’ll clarify the timeline when sending your quote.

Similar to name changes, each airline has its own policy. Because most school trips are confirmed close to the departure date, group flights are usually non-refundable. Some airlines may offer partial refunds or more flexible cancellation terms. We’ll always outline the cancellation conditions before confirming any booking, so you know exactly what to expect.

Visas

When we realised there wasn’t a single source of visa information tailored to international travel for school aged students, we set out to create one. We spoke with embassy representatives, reviewed official guidelines, and built comprehensive destination pages for each country.

These pages include up-to-date visa requirements, step-by-step instructions, and supporting links, all designed to make the process as clear and stress-free as possible.

By providing one centralised reference, schools, parents, and providers can all access the same information, helping to simplify what is often a complex part of trip planning.

Yes, we strongly recommend that parents apply for their child’s visa directly with the relevant embassy, consulate, or online portal.

While there are visa concierge services available, we know from our experience that no third-party service can guarantee appointment availability or approval timelines. In some cases, they may even suggest shortcuts that could complicate the process.

Having worked in this space for years, we can confidently say that applying directly with the official channels is the most reliable and straightforward approach. That’s why we’ve built this resource, so everyone can easily navigate the process and apply confidently on their own.

Kit Lists

Any destination-specific kit list should ideally come from the trip provider or school (if the trip is organised in-house).

However, we’ve put together a general kit list covering the most popular items commonly needed for various trip categories, so you’ll have a solid starting point for packing.

For each item, we feature three options: Essential, Recommended, and Premium, to cater to different budgets, preferences, and student needs.

Our team has personally used many of these products and we all have our favourites from our own expedition days (even if, for some of us, that feels like a while ago!)

Summer & Winter Camps

No, we don’t organise camps directly. However, we showcase a range of international summer and winter camps across various categories on our website. If needed, we can assist with flight bookings and provide visa guidance for students attending these, or any other camp.

We don't give explicit recommendations because we like to keep things unbiased. Your student's perfect camp experience is something only you can decide! That said, we do handpick camps based on reputation, quality of programmes, and how well they cater to students, so you’re getting the best of the best to choose from.

Something Else?

We can support flight bookings wherever you are based, and whilst SEE is built with UAE schools in mind, many of our resources, especially visa and destination information, can also be helpful no matter where you're based.

That said, if you’re planning a trip from outside the UAE, we’re always up for a challenge! Just reach out – your job is to ask, and ours is to see if we can make it happen.

You mean we’ve missed something? We’re humans (not AI… yet!), so do that thing and hit 'contact us'. No robots, just real people ready and willing to help, build relationships, and work together. Ask all the questions - BIG or small.
